Stephen Gately - Cause of Death: Pulmonary Edema

The boy band tragedy is officially no less tragic.

Boyzone singer Stephen Gately died of natural causes, according to autopsy results.

The 33-year-old Irishman was on vacation in Mallorca, Spain, with his husband, Andrew Cowles, when he was found dead on Saturday.

According to his spokeswoman that pulmonary edema was the cause of his death, or fluid in the lungs, and that there were no signs of violence in his death.

A judge has authorized that his body be flown home.

Band mates Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, and Shane Lync shared their feelings of loss in a joint statement posted here on Sunday.

Boyzone Singer: Stephen Gately Died at 33 in Majorca

It has just been reported that the world famous boy band Boyzone singer Stephen Gately is dead. Stephen Gately died suddenly in Majorca during a holiday at the age of 33.

When he died yesterday, the cause of which is currently unclear. A friend of Gately's said "It looks like he went out for a few drinks, then got back, fell asleep and never woke up."

Stephen Gately was the second main singer in the Boyzone line up. He was essentially Ronan Keating’s singing partner and fans from around the world will miss him. Stephen Gately’s closely friends have reported to have been devastated.

Singer Ronan Keating and the manager of the band, said to be "completely devastated".

Gately leaves behind his partner Andrew Cowles, who he married in a civil union in March, 2006.

He last posted a message on his Twitter page on October 6, writing: "Still busy - lots going on. Focusing on finishing my book next so may be quiet here."
